Jonah and the Whale

I have been trying to do a bible lesson several times a week. I have this great collection of bible stories, activities, crafts and prayers that my late aunt passed down to me. The boys have loved them and I have enjoyed teaching them about the Lord and the many stories from the bible.

This lesson was all about Jonah and the whale. However, our focus was on obedience. We talked about how Jonah did not listed and obey the Lord, therefore he was swallowed by the whale. This has been an issue lately with the boys not listening to what mommy and daddy have to say. Especially when it comes to something that the don't want to do. This has been a great visual to relate back to when they begin to throw a fit, we talk about how God wants us to obey our parents and others when asked to do something.

Of course, we had to make a pinterest craft! I cut out whale shapes, placed down one sheet of plastic wrap and sandwiched the whale in between two layers. After squirting some finger paint onto the paper, I sealed the edges and it became no mess finger painting. We were even able to make different patterns and explore writing our names in paint!

Getting started!

Look mom! No mess!

Having such a great time!
