I LOVE my work

Notice that I said work and not job. As my Preacher has been teaching my SS class about being a working church, I have to say that I LOVE my work. Being the Jr. Church director is the work I do for the Lord and not a job that I have to complete each Sunday. I don't get paid for the time, labor, and effort put into leading Jr. Church.

This morning, being Easter Sunday, I have planned all month for our lesson. Of course we talked about the Easter story and its meaning, but I had to gather easter eggs, empty egg cartons and so forth. I think one of the harder aspects of this work, is not knowing how many to plan for. On any average Sunday we run 10-15 children. The most so far to date, has been 24! However, the Lord is good. We had a grand total of 32, that's right, 32 kids this morning. Wow!

Now believe it or not, I am the kind of person that tends to get stressed out easily. Especially with all the planning that went into this morning (I had only planned for 27), it was kind of a whirlwind to start off seeing child after child pour into the Fellowship Hall. I have to say though, that Jesus was gracious to me and things could not have gone any smoother than they did. There will always be times when I think I am prepared and the Lord proves me wrong, BUT he will always provide what is needed.

So, after last minute shuffling around, adding workers and splitting up the kids into two smaller groups, I sat down with the 6-9 year olds and we talked about the Easter story. It had been on my heart lately to make sure that I make a conscience effort to stop and pray and offer the kids the opportunity to go and talk to someone if they are interested in learning more about being saved. I did that this morning, and the Lord knew that 3 kids would be saved! How amazing is our Lord.

I am on a spiritual high right now. It is an indescribable feeling to know that those kids will now be in Heaven with me for eternity. Praise God!!!!

Easter eggs!

Easter is a great time of year for many celebrations. We celebrate lots of birthdays around this time and Brandon and I will be celebrating our 4th anniversary on the 21st. Of course not only are all of these birthdays and events wonderful, it of course, is the time to celebrate our Lord. It is amazing to think all that He went through just for me. I serve a great God! We went over to Grammy and Poppy's house to color Easter eggs.

Devan had a great time coloring Easter eggs!

Grady had fun eating the eggs since he wasn't quite old enough to color them!

So proud!

Just remember that Easter is not all about bunnies and candy!  It is to remember what your Lord sacrificed for you! Happy Easter!

The power of a song

Music is and has always been my passion. It is one way that I deal with the many emotions that life throws our way. I can use it when I am sad, happy and most importantly when I worship my Lord. It's amazing how a couple of minutes can make a difference in my day. I can have a rough morning, get in the car to drop off the boys at daycare, and a song comes on the radio that puts my life and reactions into perspective. Lately, the song that has really hit home is called "This is the Stuff" by Francesca Battistelli. I would like to share those lyrics with you now...

I lost my keys in the great unknown
And call me please 'Cuz I can't find my phone

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff that's getting to me lately
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

45 in a 35
Sirens and fines while I'm running behind
Whoa

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff that's getting to me lately
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

So break me of impatience
Conquer my frustrations
I've got a new appreciation
It's not the end of the world
Oh Oh Oh

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff
Someone save me
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
And I've gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

Oh Oh Oh Oh
This is the stuff You use

I have to say that really no matter what happens, the Lord will provide and I am blessed. I know the Lord puts obstacles in my way to make me stronger and this song is a great reminder!!

Prescription's anyone?

A recent visit to the doctor got me thinking about prescriptions. First of all, the prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Then you have to wait for the pharmacy to take their time and fill the medicine that you need just so you can start to get some relief. But did you notice the very detailed instructions that are listed on the outside of the bottle? Take one pill twice a day for 10 days, etc?? How do they expect you to remember to take this so often in the middle of your incredibly busy life? Well, if you want to feel better and get over your illness, the entire medicine must be taken.

Well, come to think of it, there is a prescription that God gives to you as well. It is called church and faithfulness. If you were to think of this as instructions on a bottle it would probably read something like this:

Take a dose of church twice on Sundays (once in the morning and once in the evening) and then one more dose on Wednesday nights. To make sure all your burdens are cared for, you must attend every service until ALL your sins are gone. To ensure a complete cure, salvation is a must. Even after you have been saved, make sure and continue to be faithful to each church service to keep a healthy soul.

So how diligent are you to your prescriptions? Maybe you're not taking the right dose or enough to make a difference. If your life is not what you want it to be, look at God's instructions for a happy, healthy, God centered life.
