I am so terribly going to miss my days off come Monday. This has been the best Christmas break thus far. I have not stressed about housework, the boys are old enough to take care of themselves for more than 5 minutes at a time, and of course, the time that I have had to actually craft! I am quickly learning that sewing is my new favorite past time. Add my new Cricut Explore in the mix and I get endless possibilities to do and create. I am curious and excited to see how God is going to use this new found talent for His work (and it wouldn't hurt to make some extra income at the same time). Here are a few things that I have created in the last couple of days...

Called to serve
I should never be amazed at the work of the Lord, however, I love the feeling I have when I have listened to God and get answers to life's questions. I have, for some time now, felt as if I have been ready to serve God in some capacity. Trying to figure out exactly how (my "calling" so to speak) has been a bit more challenging. If you read some of my past posts, you'll notice how I went on quite an adventure through AMTC. I learned a lot about myself and definitely grew spiritually, but this wasn't the area in which God wanted to use me.
This past holiday season (which was just a few weeks ago), God gave me some great clarification in how I am to be used for His work. While at our annual Florida Family Thanksmas, I was talking with my aunt who hosted everyone. It was a good conversation in which I was able to share and do a bit of witnessing (she is a fellow believer, but has her set of struggles like everyone else).
After the evening was over, and the boys and I were in the car headed home, I was sharing with Brandon the light that God has shared with me. I am called. But more importantly, I am called to serve others. Yes, I know this is what we are all called to do. It says so in the Bible. But, this calling is something that consumes me. If I had it my way, I would no longer teach (don't get me wrong, I enjoy what I do), but serve others in a capacity that from the moment I wake, to the moment I go to sleep I commit my life to helping others. I envision myself waking up and going, WHO can I help today and HOW can I help today? From going grocery shopping, to cleaning someones home, to helping with anything that they need help with. The words that came to me were "Mission of Service".
My mission and life's purpose is to serve others. Period.
The feeling of overwhelming peace, joy, love and fulfillment I get as I do for others, is what I want to feel all day every day.
I got to experience this when I went back over to my aunt's house a couple of week's ago. She had asked to learn how to crochet, so I took some of my things over and we had a fantastic afternoon of talking, sharing, and crocheting. I left with a feeling I can't really describe, but was confirmed about serving others.
The following Sunday, I shared with my Pastor about my excitement, and of course, God's plan was already in place. My pastor shared with me that they are looking to start something new in the church dealing with service to others. I can't wait to see how I get to be a part of God's plan and how he will be using me.

Table runner
Really trying to hone my skills as a seamstress in the making. I truly enjoy making things from scratch. I like the sense of pride and accomplishment it makes me feel. Plus, if it turns out good, I get to display it in my home and I can look at it all the time. From time to time, I will be posting things that I have made. No, I will not be doing a step-by-step instruction (unless requested). Most of the things I will be making in the beginning, will be things that I have seen from Pinterest. I don't have enough know how to start creating my own materpieces...yet.
So, yesterday as the boys were taking a nap (that way they wouldn't be cranky as waited for midnight...and yes, this included Brandon lol), I was making a new table runner. I like it. It's quite plain, but a good start . I might go back and make the ends a pointed edge rather than square, but that's for another day.
